AQUIFER SUDOE PROJECT FOLLOW-UP MEETING

On the 3rd and 4th of November CWP participated in the AQUIFER Sudoe project monitoring meeting, the first face-to-face meeting since the start of the project, in Prat del Llobregat. The meeting was attended by representatives of IGME, CUADLL, Aguas do Ribatejo, AquaValley, Euro Vértice and CWP, while the other project partners (Parceria Portuguesa para a Agua and ISA) were connected telematically. During the session, an exhaustive review of the activities carried out and programmed took place, with presentations by the participants.

In addition, on the first day we visited the artificial recharge basins of the Molins de Rei aquifer, located in the Llobregat river plain and built by CUADLL. The installation consists of a decantation basin that collects water from the Llobregat and is connected to two infiltration basins that allow the water to be recharged from the delta. This initiative will contribute to improving the management of the basin, ensuring greater availability of the resource in the event of drought episodes and bringing about a general improvement in the state of the water.

The AQUIFER project (SOE4/P1/E1045) is co-financed by the Interreg Sudoe Programme and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2020-2023 and aims to develop innovative groundwater management tools in a context of increasing scarcity of water resources and is led by the Spanish Geological and Mining Institute (IGME).
