The GALATEA project concludes, having financed several CWP SME projects applied to the blue economy sector

Last May, the GALATEA project ended, financed by European H2020 funds through the INNOSUP program and participated by CWP, Eurecat and 6 other entities from 5 European countries. GALATEA has aimed to map the needs of various actors linked to the blue economy (ports, shipyards, ships and maritime surveillance) and to encourage the international and cross-sectoral collaboration of SMEs to create new value chains that respond to these challenges.

Under the project voucher program, four companies associated with the CWP have received funding to develop their innovative projects. Through the CORAL project, the B’GEO company has developed a digital platform to monitor environmental data and operations in ports, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and sustainability. INLOC ROBOTICS has received funding from the KTMS project, which has developed and validated the use of artificial intelligence applied to optimizing the movement of sails on ships, making the most of wind energy. AERIS has executed the ADVARPOL project, which aimed to adapt the anaerobic digestion process to remove marine litter and generate biogas, reducing solid particles and system operating costs. Finally, in the SEAiGRASS project, GPA SEABOTS has used unmanned marine robots to obtain data from the Posidonia meadows, which combined with satellite data will allow environmental conservation measures to be implemented.

GALATEA has been a good opportunity for CWP SMEs to get in touch with actors and end users of the blue economy sector, make international contacts and develop new products and services tailored to the challenges of this sector.
