Webinar on Nature-Based Solutions with BIODAPH2O and UPWATER
On April 24, the seminar “Nature-Based Solutions to Improve Water Quality: Lessons Learned and Scaling Strategies” was held, organized by the European projects BIODAPH2O and UPWATER. Within the framework of the BIODAPH2O project, coordinated by the University of Girona, the BIODAPH technology was presented, an eco-efficient tertiary/quaternary wastewater treatment system, applied to the Quart WWTP and Lesvos, to reduce pollutants in freshwater ecosystems and regenerate water suitable for agricultural irrigation.
The presentations were given by representatives of the University of Girona, NTUA and Sorigué. UPWATER showcased various NBS technologies for water quality improvement and aquifer recharge, such as MBBR, biofilters, floating rhizofiltration, and bioelectrochemical wetlands. The session, moderated by the CWP, highlighted the potential of these solutions for a more efficient and sustainable management of the water cycle.
