THE RESEARCH PROJECT ON OPPORTUNITIES IN THE WATER-FOOD NEXUS IS COMPLETED WITH THE SUPPORT OF ACTION

During the first quarter of 2021, the CWP will close the project: Estudi i Prospectiva d’Oportunitats en la Gestió de l’Aigua amb Clústers Alimentaris, financed by the IRC ACCIÓ call of 2019. The project has been led by CWP and has had the collaboration of 5 of its associated companies:  ADASA, Createch360º, Telwesa, ABM and Hidroquímia. Likewise, other members of the cluster with success stories and references in the sustainable use of water applied to the food sector have been integrated.

Together, the CWP companies have been able to offer solutions for all stages of the value chain in the water sector (input water, output water, treatment, applied ICT solutions and circular economy), based on all the experience accumulated in the food sector. This project has therefore built on the experience acquired in the commercialisation of technologies for the Catalan food industry to open up new commercial and R&D opportunities in Spain and the South of France.

Within the framework of this project, 5 webinars have been held with clusters in Galicia, Castilla y Lleó and Navarra, among others, with more than 100 food companies participating, as well as working groups both within the cluster and with various food clusters in Spain.

Among the results of this initiative, 2 new projects have been presented and business opportunities have been generated for more than 15 companies in the Catalan Water Partnership. Of the two projects presented, one of them has already been approved with funding from the Euroregió Pirineus Mediterrània, and aims to connect the water and agri-food sectors of the Euroregió (Catalonia, South-West France and the Balearic Islands) with the planned collaboration between the CWP, the French cluster Agri Sud-Ouest Innovation, the Clúster Biotecnològic i Biomèdic de les Illes Balears and La coopération agricole Occitanie.
