Online presentation of the ViWaTec project in the wine sector
Last February 13, the online conference organized by the INNOVI cluster, together with the Catalan Wine Association (AVC) and the Catalan Water Partnership (CWP), was held, focused on strategies to improve efficiency in the use of water ‘water in the wine sector and in the presentation of the ViWaTec project. With the participation of almost 50 attendees, the event was a meeting point for professionals in the sector.
The day began with a welcome by Toni Cruces, general secretary of the AVC, which gave way to a series of presentations.
Mr. Manel Simon, director general of Afrucat, addressed the response of the fruit sector to the drought, highlight Next, Xavier Amores, Cluster Manager of the CWP, shared a vision on water management in a drought emergency context, including an analysis of current regulations, restrictions and potential savings solutions. It was emphasis on the importance of efficiency and control of water use, highlighting the need for guidelines for the reuse and reuse of this essential resource. and the importance of water management and accumulation to meet the future challenges of drought and periods of heavy rain.
Next, Aina Amengual, R&D Project Manager of the CWP, presented the ViWaTec project “Technology and innovative strategies for improving the efficiency of water use in the wine sector”, offering participants an opportunity to learn and save through free diagnostic studies. These studies will include a balance sheet of the water cycle and the personalized identification of weak points and lines of improvement in water management, all accompanied by visits by experts in the water sector. The ViWaTec project is coordinated by the CWP and, in terms of the water sector, the companies ABM Consulting, CIM Aigua, Dr. Canicio Consulting Chemist and Geoservice. On the part of the wine sector, INNOVI, the AVC and the wineries La vinyeta, Sumarroca and the Unió Fruits cooperative participate.
Finally, to end the day, Eloi Montcada, Clúster Manager of INNOVI, invited the attendees to participate in the open call for free studies, highlighting the hope of continuity in the search for innovative tools for management of water in the sector.
