Five projects with the participation of the CWP receive approval in the AEI 2025 call, with a total budget of €1.6 million

In 2025, the Catalan Water Partnership has participated in the call for Innovative Business Groups (AEI) of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, aimed at supporting and articulating measures that allow the industrial fabric to benefit from new digital tools in order to promote innovation and competitiveness.

On November 5, the final resolution was published, in which the CWP has positioned itself as the fourth cluster at the national level in number of projects approved as coordinator. In total, the CWP leads three initiatives and participates in two more, which add  up to €1.6 million in the overall budget and €1 million in aid. OptimCPD stands out, recognized as one of the ten projects with the best score (61.73 out of 100). This project promotes a digital platform for the optimization and improvement of energy and water management of data center cooling systems (DPCs), with the participation of the associated entities Artificial, AVENTEC, Disibeint and with the collaboration of the onTech Innovation cluster.

The other two approved projects coordinated by the CWP are Aguarics and Bluesteel. The first is focused on promoting more efficient, cyber-secure and intelligent planning of reclaimed water distribution networks in urban environments, with special attention to industrial uses. The University of Girona, ICRA, ABM, BGEO, ULBIOS, Sensotec and Smart City Cluster are participating. The second, Bluesteel, is aimed at developing a digital twin of the industrial water cycle of a steel plant, with the aim of optimizing the use and treatment of water and anticipating operational and health risks. CELSA, ULBIOS, SPIN, Aquater and the Digital Cluster of Catalonia are participating.

In addition, the CWP also participates in other projects approved in collaboration with entities associated with the cluster, such as SmartHospital-WWT, coordinated by onTech Innovation with the participation of Sensotec, and Aquac, led by the Spanish Plastics Center, with the participation of Italsan, the University of Barcelona and IQS.

With these results, the Catalan Water Partnership reaffirms its role as a driver of innovation and technological collaboration in order to improve the business competitiveness of the water sector, consolidating itself as a key player in the digital and sustainable transformation of the industry.
