Cubeta d’Abrera

The Abrera Basin Water Users’ Community is a public law corporation attached to the Catalan Water Agency, set up in 2009 with the aim of protecting and preserving water within its sphere of competence. It is made up of all those users who have the right to use underground water, and who are duly registered in the register of the Catalan Water Agency. With a surface area of 22 km2, it is a free-flowing alluvial aquifer closely linked to the Llobregat river. On average, between 16 and 18 hm3/year are extracted annually, 69% of which is used for urban water supply, 30% for industrial uses and 1% to meet water needs.
