SMARTH₂OTEL 3.0 showcases its results at a conference on sustainable digitalization

The SMARTHOTEL project has successfully concluded after three years of research and development, validating digital solutions in real-life environments to achieve more efficient water and energy management in the tourism sector. Led by the Catalan Water Partnership and involving Ulbios, Aeris, Lente Ingenieros, Nexmachina and the GAIA cluster, the project was co-funded by the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism under the AEI 2024 call.

Pilot projects were carried out at Camping Les Medes and Hotel Samba (Girona), where technologies were tested for early Legionella risk detection, advanced wastewater treatment and reuse, biogas generation, and full digitalization of resource consumption. All these elements were integrated into a cloud platform that centralizes data and provides indicators and automated alerts to support decision-making.

Key outcomes include the validation of the ULBIOS Water system, the deployment of water reuse technologies, the digitalization of infrastructures using IoT and LoRa, and the development of a comprehensive management platform.

SMARTH₂OTEL delivers a replicable model for tourist establishments seeking to move towards sustainability, cut costs and address the challenges of climate change, consolidating itself as a benchmark in innovation and circular economy within the tourism sector.
