The BETA Centre and the CWP organise the Water Talks “Water management in the agri-food sector”.
The WaterTalks on water management in the agri-food sector, an event co-organised by the CWP and the Beta Technology Centre of the UVic-UCC, took place on the 15th of September. The objective of the event was to present solutions for an efficient use of water in the agri-food industry from both a scientific and business perspective. The event was introduced by Xavier Amores, director of the CWP, and Sergio Ponsá, director of the Beta Centre, and was welcomed by Antonio Enjuanes, General Subdirector of Rural Infrastructures of the Generalitat de Catalunya. This was followed by the presentation of research projects on water management in the agri-food sector, with presentations by Mariona Pratdesaba from INNOVACC, Lidia Paredes from the Beta Technology Centre, Xialei You Chen from Leitat and Nicola Montemurro from IDAEA-CSIC. During the second part of the session, innovative solutions for water management in the agri-food sector were presented by companies associated with the CWP. Albert Bartrolí, project manager at Aeris; Wounjim Chang, Water Systems Engineer at Carburos Metálicos; Carlos Serrano, from the Aonchip team; Eduard Obis, head of digital projects at Matholding and Antonio Giménez, head of R&D projects at Aqualia. The event was marked by the importance that all the speakers attributed to the reuse of water, a resource that is becoming increasingly scarce, and by the opportunities for the application of digital technologies in agriculture. Laia Llenas, deputy director of the Beta Technology Centre, closed the event. The event, which was held in hybrid format, was attended by 80 people, both in person and online. At the end of the event, the attendees had the opportunity to visit the facilities of the Beta Technology Centre.
