The closing seminar for the Cosme Water Footprint project was held

On April 10th, the seminar presenting the results of the first phase of the COSME WATER FOOTPRINT project took place. The project aims to adapt and validate the water footprint calculation methodology for the cosmetics sector.

The event was introduced by Xavier Amores Bravo, director of the Catalan Water Partnership, and Susana Arranz Vegas, international director of Feeling Innovation by Stanpa, where they discussed the impact and strategy for efficient water management. Alba Recio Arriola from Feeling Innovation by Stanpa and Aina Amengual Oliver from CWP provided a brief introduction to the project’s execution and its phases, as it is expected that the project will continue with a second and third phase over the next three years.

Following this, Iago Ferreiro from Cetaqua presented a summary of the results obtained from the water footprint in this first phase, where the methodology for water footprint and water usage footprint was discussed. Iago Ferreiro emphasized that “the water usage footprint has a significantly larger value than the water footprint, as the indirect water usage footprint accounts for many more impact categories, whereas the water footprint only considers water consumption.”

Finally, the report on available technical improvements for implementing water footprint reduction plans for the sector was presented by Angel Teno from Lente Ingenieros.
