The main objective of the WatEnerWine project is to promote sustainability and efficiency in the use of water and energy in the European wine industry. This initiative has a consortium made up of clusters, technology centers and companies from France, Italy and Spain, the three main wine-producing countries in Europe.

For three years, WatEnerWine will work on several key actions to promote the efficient use of water and energy, the implementation of renewable energy sources and the adoption of innovative technologies in wineries and auxiliary companies in the sector. To achieve these objectives, a collaboration network will be created between clusters, technology centres and business support organisations to facilitate knowledge transfer and promote good practices in sustainability.

Among the main actions of the project, the following stand out:

• Creation of a European collaboration network to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of the sector, through the development of a Common Strategic Agenda for the next 10 years.
• Strengthen the structures and capacities of clusters and BSOs to support the sustainable transition of SMEs, through the creation of Green Transition Centres and Advisors.
• To improve the energy and water efficiency of wineries through the adoption and deployment of sustainable technologies, promoting thematic Working Groups at national and European level.
• Develop knowledge transfer resources, such as a Guide to Good Practices and an Innovation Catalogue.
• Encourage the participation of organisations in European sustainability initiatives through events and dissemination activities.

Through these actions, WatEnerWine will contribute to promoting a more sustainable value chain in the European wine industry, favouring a more resilient and competitive wine production in the face of the environmental and economic challenges of the coming years.
