SMARTH2OTEL 3.0 is the third and final phase of a collaborative project aimed at validating technological and digital solutions in real environments to improve water and energy efficiency in tourist establishments. The main objective of this phase is to demonstrate the technical and operational feasibility of the technologies developed in the previous phases, through their implementation in real environments: Camping Les Medes and Hotel Samba.
The project is structured around four strategic areas:
Water quality and control
An advanced algorithm for predicting the risk of Legionella, based on the Ulbios Water platform, which combines sensor data and digital models, is validated at Camping Les Medes. This tool makes it possible to anticipate risk situations and reinforce health safety in tourist facilities.
Wastewater management and circular economy
Innovative grey and black water treatment technologies are implemented at the Hotel Samba, such as the AnMBR system and advanced oxidation processes. These technologies promote the reuse of water and contribute to minimising the environmental impact of tourist activities.
Water-energy nexus
SMARTH2OTEL 3.0 promotes the generation and optimization of energy from water treatment and other renewable sources (such as photovoltaic solar energy), thus increasing the efficiency of the integrated water-energy cycle. The generation of biogas from the wastewater treatment of the Samba Hotel will be validated, through continuous tests in real conditions.
Digitalisation and smart decision-making
One of the fundamental pillars of the project is the digital management of all water-energy subsystems within a tourist establishment. This translates into the development of a Cloud platform that allows real-time monitoring of water and energy flows, offering tools for informed and efficient decision-making.
In this final phase, the validation of the comprehensive digital management system at Camping Les Medes will be completed, and a complete functional prototype will be developed taking into account the specific requirements of hotel managers. The system will also include alerts to detect anomalous consumption and improve the overall efficiency of resources.
SMARTH2OTEL 3.0 promotes more efficient, sustainable and digital management of resources in the tourism sector, promoting resilience to drought and reducing costs and environmental impacts.
