The second phase AtmosphAIr 2.0 project follows the lines of its first phase, studying the processes of formation of greenhouse gases (GHG) and odoriferous gases in WWTPs. The final objective of this second phase of the project is to improve the forecasting methodologies already developed, to carry out a study of the impacts and the dispersion process of the gases, as well as to develop and validate mitigation strategies for their formation. To achieve these goals, a new proprietary artificial intelligence tool is being developed that will improve the results obtained in the first phase. The spatial component of gas dispersion will also be taken into account during AtmosphAIr 2.0, as the project also contemplates the creation of a graphical interface system where WWTP managers will be able to visualize the process of formation and dissemination of the various GHGs and GO that can originate in the various stages of the water treatment process. Finally, a proof of concept of a biological oxidation system will be developed to prevent the formation of GHG and GO in WWTPs. All these resources will be developed and validated at the WWTPs of Montornès del Vallés and Torredembarra. The advances developed during AtmosphAIr 2.0 will give rise to tools and resources capable of being replicated and scaled in WWTPs of various sizes and types, helping to reduce the environmental impact, nuisance and climate change of a process so essential on the other hand , such as the treatment of waste water.
