VIII Water Innovation Day

On March 18, we will celebrate the 8th edition of the Water Innovation Day, the annual meeting of the water sector promoted by the Catalan Water Partnership, to be held at the CosmoCaixa Auditorium (Barcelona).

The event is consolidated as a key platform to explore the main innovation trends, share funding opportunities, and connect companies, knowledge centres and public administration.

The programme will begin with the welcome by Jordi Cros, president o CWP and an introduction by Xavier Amores, Director of CWP. This will be followed by a session on the technical aspects and key elements for preparing proposals under the AEI 2026 Call, specifically designed to facilitate members’ participation in collaborative R&D projects.

One of the central highlights of the event will be the elevator pitch session of R&D projects focused on the sustainable use of water, aimed at showcasing new initiatives and fostering synergies among participating organisations.

The programme will also feature two high-level keynote speeches:

• Anna Ribera (Eurecat), who will present the iRAIN project, focused on integrating water regeneration, nutrient recovery and artificial intelligence to strengthen water resilience in agriculture.
• Jan Eeckhout (ICREA – Pompeu Fabra University), who will share insights on dominant firms in the digital era and the challenges linked to technological transformation.

The event will conclude with the awards ceremony for the best R&D projects, recognising excellence and impact in innovation developed by cluster members.

A new edition designed to inspire, build collaborations and promote strategic projects that enhance the competitiveness of the water sector.

CALL FOR PROJECTS: submit your R&D project

Participation criteria:

• Cooperative projects that are ongoing or recently completed.
• The projects must have received public funding.
• The project has to be presented for the first time in this event.
• Diversity among participating profiles will be encouraged, ensuring the involvement of different actors across the water sector value chain.
• Only one proposal per CWP member entity will be selected.
• Priority will be given to member entities participating for the first time.
