On January 18, 2024, the CWP, together with the University of Girona (project coordinators), is organizing the Inauguration of the BIODAPH pilot plant at the Quart WWTP (Girona). The event will include a first technical session at the UdG Science and Technology Park where the main progress of the LIFE BIODAPH2O project will be presented and other projects with nature-based solutions to improve water quality and biodiversity of aquatic ecosystems. Finally, a round table will be held with experts in the water sector to discuss the leap from research to implementation. Then, we will travel to the Quart WWTP to visit and inaugurate the BIODAPH reactor.
The LIFE BIODAPH2O project aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of applying BIODAPH technology, an eco-efficient and nature-based tertiary wastewater treatment, to produce regenerated water, while reducing dependence on conventional energy sources according to the principles of circular and green economy in two demonstration sites in two regions with water stress in the Mediterranean area. This system will produce regenerated water that will contribute to reducing pollutant discharges into freshwater ecosystems (Girona) and promoting agricultural reuse (Island of Lesvos, Greece).
